Timber Window Pelmet Prices — Per Lineal Metre Rates

The Heritage & Decorative Timber Products pelmets are internal items, cut to your window width from the same decorative pattern ranges as its external frieze work.

Everything here is priced per lineal metre, in four bands

This is the important thing on the page. Pelmets are priced by the metre, and the rate steps down as the quantity goes up:

A single window might be 2 metres. A living room with three windows is comfortably into the second band, and a whole house will usually reach the third. Add up every window before you order, not one room at a time — doing the house in one order can move you two bands, and the patterns are made to match anyway.

The four ranges — choose by height

Fifty-three designs. The height is fixed per range and the width is made to your window, so pick the range that suits the proportion of the room first — a 270mm pelmet is discreet under a standard ceiling, while the 400mm and 440mm ranges suit the tall windows and high ceilings of a Victorian front room, where a shallow pelmet looks mean.

Internal hanging space: 150mm or 200mm

Every pelmet is made with an internal hanging space of either 150mm or 200mm. That is the clearance between the back of the pelmet board and the wall — the room your track, your curtain heading and the stacked-back curtain have to live in.

Choose 150mm for a single track and a light curtain. Choose 200mm if you have a double track, a heavy or lined curtain, or a blind behind the curtain. Measure from the wall out to the front of your track, then add the depth of the curtain heading when it is closed. If you are between the two, take the 200.

How to measure

1. Width — the window opening plus the return each side. The pelmet should extend past the reveal so the curtain has somewhere to stack without showing at the edges.
2. Hanging space — as above, 150 or 200mm.
3. Drop available — from the ceiling or cornice down to the top of the window architrave. That decides which range fits.

The same pattern, on the verandah

The SA, SB, SC and SG pattern numbers used here also run as …FW frieze panels for an external verandah and …PS privacy screens. Outside the same window, a canopy kit is the external counterpart and is priced separately. On a period house, carrying one pattern from the front verandah through to the pelmets inside is a genuinely period-correct thing to do, and it costs no more than choosing three different ones.

A note on the guarantee

Window pelmets are internal joinery. Our 25 year guarantee covers external LOSP H3 treated pine used above ground, so it does not apply to pelmets. That is a function of where they live, not of how they are made.
